Every Business Has a Project Somebody Half-Finished
Lazer IT Consultants handles IT projects, network builds, cabling, camera installs, and technology upgrades for businesses across Palm Desert, Palm Springs, Rancho Mirage, La Quinta, Indio, and the greater Coachella Valley.
You know the one. Cable run across a ceiling by somebody's nephew and never labeled. Cameras installed but never configured, so nobody's actually looked at the footage in two years. A server migration where half the old problems came along for the ride. An access point mounted in a spot that made sense to whoever was holding the ladder.
The work got done. Sort of. Nobody documented it, nobody came back to check it, and now it's yours to live with.
We run projects differently. Scoped in writing before we start, done outside your business hours if needed, documented when we finish, and the documentation belongs to you. If something isn't right, we come back — that's not a warranty claim, it's just how we work.

How We Run a Project
| 1 | SCOPED IN WRITING FIRST | What we're doing, what hardware we're using with make and model, what it costs, and how long it takes. If something changes mid-project we talk about it before it lands on an invoice. You should never be surprised by a number at the end. |
| 2 | DONE AROUND YOUR SCHEDULE | Evenings, weekends, or whatever stretch is quietest for you. A cutover that takes your business down for a day is a planning failure, not an unavoidable cost. We stage the work so your team walks in and everything is already running. |
| 3 | DOCUMENTED AND LABELED | Every cable labeled at both ends, every device recorded, every configuration written down. You get a copy, and it's yours permanently. Nobody should ever have to trace a cable by hand to find out how their own building works. |
| 4 | WE'RE STILL HERE AFTERWARD | We're a local managed IT company, not a crew that installs and disappears. If something's off next month, you call the same number you called during the project and reach the same people who did the work. |
What We Build
Networks and infrastructure
- Network design and rebuilds — Firewalls, switching, VLANs, and segmentation, built for the building and the work rather than patched together over a decade.
- Wi-Fi design and installation — With an actual site survey. Office, warehouse, medical, and outdoor coverage, including the environments where concrete, racking, and equipment interference make guesswork fail.
- Low-voltage cabling and structured wiring — Ethernet for workstations, access points, cameras, printers, and point-of-sale. Run to spec, in conduit where it belongs, and labeled at both ends.
- Redundant internet and failover — A second connection that takes over automatically when the primary drops.
Servers, cloud, and migrations
- Server replacement and upgrades — Planned, staged, and tested before anybody depends on it.
- Cloud migrations — Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, or moving a server off-premises when that's genuinely the right call.
- Email platform moves — Mail, calendars, contacts, and permissions all intact.
Office moves and buildouts
- New locations and relocations — Cabling, network, phones, and workstations ready before your team walks in the door.
- Tenant improvements — We work alongside your general contractor and electrician so the low-voltage side is right the first time, while the walls are still open.
- Expansions — Adding square footage, a second suite, or a new location onto an existing network.
Physical security
- Security camera systems — Design, installation, remote viewing, and retention set to your requirements. Configured properly, not just mounted.
- Access control — Badge and keypad entry for server rooms, records storage, medication rooms, and back-office areas, with access logging.
- Emergency and duress alerting — Staff panic buttons and alert systems, plus the wiring behind them.
Workstations and hardware
- Custom-built workstations — Real machines for people running demanding software: designers, engineers, estimators, video and CAD work. Specified for the actual job rather than whatever was on the shelf.
- Fleet rollouts and refreshes — New machines configured, imaged, and deployed with your software and settings already on them.
- Conference room and A/V — Displays, cameras, and audio that work the first time somebody starts a meeting.
Recovery and coordination
- Data recovery — Hard drives, SSDs, flash drives, and memory cards. For complex failures we work with an advanced recovery lab, and if the data can't be recovered, you don't pay.
- Vendor liaison — Internet providers, phone carriers, software companies, alarm and A/V vendors. We coordinate the install and sit through the support calls so your staff doesn't have to.
Why Coachella Valley Businesses Choose Lazer IT
- We're not going anywhere — Local since 2010, and we support what we install. No crew that finishes the job and vanishes.
- Everything documented, and it's yours — Network maps, labeled ports, configurations, and credentials. In your hands, not held as leverage.
- Quality business hardware — Business-grade equipment so you can experience the difference of reliable and fast hardware.
- Scoped before we start — Written scope, written price, and a conversation before anything changes.
- We answer in 5 minutes — During the project and long after it.
- 4.9 stars from 100+ local businesses — Fifteen years of work in one valley, where reputation is the only thing that matters.

What Goes Wrong on Badly Run Projects
| 1 | THE PRICE CHANGES AT THE END | The quote said one number, the invoice says another, and the explanation involves words like "unforeseen." A written scope with a change conversation built into it prevents this entirely, which is why it's how we work. |
| 2 | NOTHING GOT DOCUMENTED | No map, no labels, no record of what was configured or why. Every future problem starts with an hour of somebody figuring out your building. If your last installer left nothing behind, that wasn't an oversight — it was job security. |
| 3 | IT WAS INSTALLED, NOT CONFIGURED | Cameras mounted but recording over themselves after four days. Access points powered on but never tuned. A firewall in the rack running factory defaults. The equipment is there and the job isn't done. |
| 4 | NOBODY ANSWERS AFTERWARD | The install crew was great and now the number goes to voicemail. Something needs adjusting six weeks later and you're starting over with somebody new who has to learn your building from scratch. |
Working With a Local Partner You Can Actually Reach
A project is the easy part. What matters is who picks up the phone eight months later when something needs to change.
When you call Lazer IT, you get a technician who already knows your network — often the same person who ran the project. We're a small local team, 20 minutes from your office instead of 2,000 miles away, and we've never outsourced a ticket to a third party in fifteen years of doing this.
Free Guide: 21 Questions to Ask Before You Hand Anyone the Keys to Your Network
Several of the twenty-one are about project work specifically — whether jobs finish on time and on budget, what documentation you get, and who owns the credentials when the work is done. Use it on us or on anybody else quoting your project.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do we have to be a managed client to hire you for a project?
No. Plenty of businesses bring us in for a single project — a network rebuild, an office move, a camera install — with no ongoing agreement. Some become managed clients afterward and some don't, and both are fine. We'll do the work either way and we won't spend the project selling you something else.
How does pricing work?
Written scope, written price, before we start. That includes labor, hardware by make and model, and a timeline. If something changes mid-project — and occasionally it does, especially inside old walls — we talk about it and agree on it before it hits an invoice. You should never open a bill and find a surprise.
Will the project shut down our business for a day?
It shouldn't, and we plan so it doesn't. Cutovers happen evenings or weekends, work is staged in advance, and we build around whatever stretch is quietest for your operation. If a brief interruption is genuinely unavoidable, you'll know about it well ahead of time rather than the morning of.
What documentation do we get when the job is done?
A network map, a labeled port list, configuration records, hardware inventory with serial numbers, and credentials. It's yours to keep, and you can ask for it any time. If you ever stop working with us, you take it with you — a provider that treats documentation as leverage has told you exactly what leaving them will be like.
Can you work with our general contractor during a buildout?
Yes, and the earlier the better. Low-voltage work is dramatically cheaper and cleaner while the walls are still open. We coordinate with your GC and electrician on rough-in, then come back for trim-out and configuration. Businesses that call us after drywall usually pay for it twice.
What brand of cameras and network equipment do you use?
We spec business-grade equipment we can support long-term, and the exact make and model goes in your quote so you can look it up yourself. Camera and network brand selection depends on the environment and on any requirements your industry or funding sources impose — some organizations have restrictions on specific manufacturers, and we account for that before ordering anything.
Do you build custom computers?
Yes. Workstations built for demanding software — CAD, video editing, rendering, large estimating and imaging files — specified for the actual work rather than whatever a big-box retailer had in stock. We also handle fleet rollouts, where a batch of machines gets configured and imaged with your software before delivery.
Can you recover data from a failed drive?
Often, yes. We handle recovery from hard drives, SSDs, flash drives, and memory cards in-house. For severe physical failures we work with an advanced recovery lab, and on those cases, if the data can't be recovered, you don't pay.
Do you handle permits and work with other trades?
We coordinate with your general contractor, electrician, alarm company, and A/V vendor, and we handle the vendor calls on your behalf. Where a project requires permits or licensed work outside our scope, we'll tell you upfront and help line up the right trade rather than working around it.
What areas do you serve?
We serve businesses in Palm Desert, Palm Springs, Cathedral City, Rancho Mirage, La Quinta, Indio, Coachella, Thousand Palms, Desert Hot Springs, Blythe, and the surrounding Coachella Valley. Our office is at 73280 Hwy 111 Ste 102, Palm Desert.
